7.2.10. Check of density of electrolyte in all sections – joint stock bank with traffic jams

Check of density of electrolyte in combination with check of the accumulator under loading allows to draw a conclusion on a condition of the accumulator.

Temperature of electrolyte has to be not less than 10 °C.
Density of electrolyte can be checked directly after accumulator charging.

Procedure for test
Turn off all traffic jams of joint stock bank (a stopper of sections of the accumulator).
Lower a pipette in section of the accumulator and pump out electrolyte until the float begins to float freely in it.

The more the specific weight of the rolled-away electrolyte, the above emerges a float (fig. 7.15).
On a scale of a pipette it is possible to consider electrolyte density in kg/dm3 (specific density of electrolyte)
Consider result of measurement on a pipette for capture of test of electrolyte and to compare to the values specified in the table.

Electrolyte density in normal climatic zones has to make not less than 1,24 kg/dm3. If electrolyte density in all sections of the accumulator is too small. Charge the accumulator and then repeat check of density of electrolyte.
At unsatisfactory results replace joint stock bank.

Results of measurement of density of electrolyte in separate section of the accumulator should not differ from each other more, than on 0,03 kg/dm3; otherwise it is necessary to replace the accumulator.

Twirl traffic jams of sections of the accumulator.

To provide tightness of various systems of covers of accumulators, in openings of the accumulator the original traffic jams relating to the accumulator have to be screwed up. At loss or damage it is allowed to use only original traffic jams of the same design.

Traffic jams have to be supplied with a sealing ring.

* Electrolyte density in section 4 is too small (a deviation more than 0,03 kg/dm3).

* Electrolyte density in sections 4 and 5 is too small (a deviation more than 0,03 kg/dm3).
